I am delighted to present this three-day, 18-hour course in Craniosacral Therapy from the Biodynamic Perspective. In this small group setting (6-10 students) you are invited to experience the beauty and effectiveness of this growing field; to play and to discover ways to bring more ease and heart to any kind of therapy practice.

"Perhaps the most important thing we bring to another person is the silence in us, not the sort of silence that is filled with unspoken criticism or hard withdrawal. The sort of silence that is a place of refuge, of rest, of acceptance of someone as they are. We are all hungry for this other silence. It is hard to find. In its presence we can remember something beyond the moment, a strength on which to build a life. Silence is a place of great power and healing."

    - Rachel Naomi Reman

Silence and stillness are foundational principles in this work. It is my intention in this training to guide you in your ability to rest into the support of universal forces, to orient to the profound and seemingly limitless intelligence of what we call the Breath of Life and its tidal expression as Primary Respiration

This is an excerpt from an email I have just sent to my clients; this is the kind of work and possibility that we are engaged in. In this class you are also the client you have these possibilities available to you in the space of our group classwork together. And this is in large part your work, in learning to practice in this way. It is a powerful space and experience in which you will also be learning skills of perception to be with your clients.

"I want to take a moment to share some insights about BioDynamic Craniosacral Therapy as it has unfolded over the last few years in working with you. Craniosacral Therapy is bodywork and consciousness work. It helps your nervous system to relax and open to freeing the held energy that has been held in your body, causing you pain, a feeling of “stuckness”, fear, anxiety, unclear thinking or lost in thoughts and belief systems of the past. It's like coming home to our original blueprint our wholeness. We open back up to our original first breath (we call it in this work, primary respiration) the one we've had since our conception. We are being breathed by and breathing with the "Breath of Life" - a divine reciprocity that returns us to our natural state of innocence and wholeness.”

We are working with our consciousness - going deep into our subconscious to free the unconscious. to free the unaccepted, unacknowledged parts of ourselves, that have not felt safe to express or even to know. As this awareness unfolds, we can begin to breathe with the breath of life out into the spaciousness of our natural divine connection to wholeness and belonging.

In this work together, as the body relaxes into a sense of safety and rest, underneath the surface levels of nervous system activation (as one teacher put it "we have a "nervous" nervous system) as the body rests under and beyond that state, its story begins to tell itself. This newfound awareness in a space of safety and trust allows these energies and stories to unravel and be released. Then it becomes possible to come home to our senses, to feeling in the present moment to present time reality, what is actually here. We begin to feel and to feel free to receive and express love more fully to enjoy our life, our family, our relationships. We can make healthy boundaries through clear communication, without blame or shame.

This can be gradual or not so gradual awakening. The timing is not ours - yours or mine - it is in the hands of the Tide, the movement and the divine wisdom of the breath of life that is moving through us, always expressing into our fluid bodies its intentions for our unfolding health and consciousness."

In this very experiential class, you will:

    • Experience the balancing strength and clarity of your own ever-present midline
    • Meet your Fluid Body: fluid origins, fluid systems and fluid health
    • Develop awareness and settling of the relational field
    • Discuss basic relational needs and how they can be met within the safe relational holding field of session work
    • Explore the felt sense of resources for ourselves and how to help the client develop their own felt sense
    • Daily guided meditation to grow and deepen your sense of presence and sensory awareness
    • Daily hands-on practice sessions
    • Training in and practicing these skills can help you to offer your clients:
    • A more resilient nervous system
    • A sense of Peace and Calm, Groundedness and Presence
    • Strengthening their immune system
    • Release pain and Restriction
    • Connect with their relationship to the Breath of Life, our deepest foundational resource

"Over time as we develop our skills of presence and perception, we settle more and more deeply into the rhythms of Primary Respiration, slowing down until we know ourselves as something deeper, slower, smoother, softer, wider than our everyday personalities. We find ourselves becoming one with the stillness that is us, that is beyond us. We sense ourselves returning, together with our client, to the beginning, prior to the hurts and traumas of our personal histories. Like the early embryo, we float within the full potential of what life has to offer. This is the heart of Craniosacral Biodynamics."

    - Cherionna Menzam-Sills

Four years ago, following a three-year, 700 hour foundation course with Margery Chessare and Turtle Back Craniosacral Education, I became certified as a BCST, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist.

This way of working and perceiving has changed my life; the way that I work with clients and has profoundly transformed the way that I teach Craniosacral Therapy.

You don't have to have taken Part I to enroll.

Writer Carol Patterson describes us as a PTSD Society. Many, if not all of us are carrying some level of PTSD in our nervous system. When our nervous system is triggered, we lose our ability to respond in present time. We, in effect, become disconnected from our empathy, our compassion, our bodies, the living earth herself.

In this BioDynamic Craniosacral class, we will first address ourselves, using guided mediations and the hands-on practice sessions to begin to address our own trauma/PTSD wounding. This is essential if we are to provide a space of safety and sanctuary that allows our clients to feel safe enough to find their own sense of inner connection and belonging. From this place of safety, we will explore ways to help our clients resource themselves and enable us to help them release their trauma wounding without recreating or creating more trauma.

In the past, some therapists and therapies advocated cathartic experience as the way to release trauma, but research has shown that it does just the opposite.  There is much research to support the BioDynamic approach of facilitating safety as the healing ground of trauma. Although we don't focus on fixing lesions in the BioDynamic approach, many people find that pain and chronic conditions are much improved.

William Garner Sutherland, the early Osteopath on whose lineage our work is based, came to believe that it is the Intelligence of Life, or as he called it, the Breath of Life that does the work, that releases the patterns of energy held in our body and not the practitioner, our role is to learn to perceive the movement of the Breath of Life and support and follow it with our awareness and attention. SO, our training is to train and practice to deepen and widen our field of perception, and also in helping the client to become more aware of this healing relationship that we in this work call "the health."

The guided meditations and hands-on work provide an opportunity for you to do your own work, allowing you to provide the safe and nurturing space your clients need in order to rest under their sympathetic activations. This allows their systems to open to the deeper healing ministrations of the Breath of Life. It is for this reason that I keep these classes small.

"18 hours of healing, sharing, learning, and deepening our massage therapy practices together, a room full of healers, with my greatest spiritual guide and teacher, Rose Alisandre! It was grueling and then wonderful and quite possible the deepest healing work I've done on myself and others in 16 years. This training taught me more than I could ever put into words. It was so much more than 'continuing education'"

    - Adriane Allyn Grayeb, MMT

Participants in this class report profound relaxation as well as a deep sense of grounding, connection, and belonging. They also report profound results with their clients. This is my experience with my clients as well.

I hope you are inspired to join us in the subtle, profound, cutting-edge work of BioDynamic Craniosacral Therapy.

** You will need to bring a set of twin-size sheets, pillowcase or face cradle cover, pen, and pad for notes.
